We have a lil bit of trap, a lil bit of rap, a lil bit of gospel and a lil bit of rock this week. Not many albums, but a few hot mixtapes that are a must listen. Check it out to see who’s giving us good music this week.
Curren$y – The Owner’s Manual
Yes Spitta just released his album “Canal Street Confidential” a few short months ago, and yes he just dropped some new heat for his fans. In this EP produced by legendary producers Cool & Dre, Curren$y gives fans six songs relax, ride, and of course smoke to…if that’s your thing. You can download the mixtape here.
Migos- Young, Rich Ni$$a$ 2
It may be hard to believe (or not), but I cuts UP to some Migos and this mixtape is no different. A follow-up to their earlier mixtape, Back To The Bando, Young, Rich Ni$$a$ 2 features no features. Yep, it’s just the three Migos back together since Offset’s release from jail late last year. Zaytoven, Dun Deal, and Murda Beatz are just a few of the producers on the 14-track tape. The group will be hitting the streets for their “Dab” Tour in a few weeks so download YRN2 here to prepare yourself to tRAP along at the show.
Future – Purple Reign
Future has hit us with another highly anticipated mixtape and sticking with his codeine theme, he’s aptly named it Purple Reign. The tape has no features, giving us more Future and hot beats from Nard & B, Zaytoven, Metro Boomin and a few others. Back with the usual suspects DJ Esco and Metro Boomin as executive producers, Future brings more hits reminiscent of his past tapes 56 Nights, Monster, and What A Time to be Alive. He is also preparing for his big U.S. tour so get familiar with these 13 jams here.
Meek Mill- 4/4
Meek has taken so many L’s in the past year but he’s trying to redeem himself as he’s been working on Dreamchasers 4. These four songs are only a quick preview of what he has in store and what his fans have been waiting for. On 4/4, Meek covers two known hits and also gives us two original tracks. DC4 isn’t quite ready yet, but 4/4 will have to hold us over for now. Download the mixtape here.
Panic! at the Disco – Death of a Bachelor
With only one original band member left in the group, Panic! at the Disco released their fifth studio album this week to the surprise of many fans. The album has many influences from Frank Sinatra, Weezer, to Queen. Be sure to get the album and support this classic rock/pop group.
Lecrae – Church Clothes 3
Lucre has always brought the positive, conscious, and socially inept gospel truth with his music and this mixtape is no different. Anomaly was Lecrae’s last project, released in 2104 and he’s kicking 2016 off right with his third installation of the Church Clothes Series. Produced by S1, and Black Knight, the 10-track album features a few notable artists including Propaganda, E-40, Givens and others. The tape can be purchased on iTunes or streamed on Spotify and Apple Music.
