White rappers have long stood out in the realm of black music and oftentimes becoming more successful than the black artists in the genre who deserve more recognition. Macklemore, a highly successful white rapper, released a new song where he blatantly expresses white guilt and spreads the word of cultural appropriation.
Young Krizzle’s ‘Pay Attention’ tour made its Houston stop late Sunday evening at Warehouse Live located on the outskirts of downtown. Many supporters of Big K.R.I.T. packed and smoked out the venue, making the whole night one to remember. The homie KRIT surely did not disappoint and provided a wonderful, star-studded show. On Tuesday night, BET aired the annual, highly anticipated Hip Hop Awards Show that highlights the achievements of entertainers in a genre that is often over looked. The night kicked off with a hype and energetic performance from the new rap group Rae Sremmurd with their hit “No Flex Zone.” This year’s show was hosted by our favorite marijuana advocate, Uncle Snoop, who kept the energy and the laughs coming the whole night. It seemed that the cast of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta were the butt of all jokes and rapper punchlines (as they should be) but it was all in fun. Continue reading
