Movie Monday: Selma
With the current state of race relations in America being what it is today, the historical film Selma could not have come at a more opportune time to remind society of how far we’ve come and how much further we need to go toward civil rights. Nor could I find a better day, being the nationally recognized holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or movie to begin the new #MovieMonday series with. This movie gives so much more significance to a man and one of his many movements that helped advance the United States, socially and politically. Continue reading

BET Hip Hop Awards 2014
On Tuesday night, BET aired the annual, highly anticipated Hip Hop Awards Show that highlights the achievements of entertainers in a genre that is often over looked. The night kicked off with a hype and energetic performance from the new rap group Rae Sremmurd with their hit “No Flex Zone.” This year’s show was hosted by our favorite marijuana advocate, Uncle Snoop, who kept the energy and the laughs coming the whole night. It seemed that the cast of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta were the butt of all jokes and rapper punchlines (as they should be) but it was all in fun. Continue reading
